As long as we keep warring with each other, there will be no way to "heal from the wounds of wars."

Edward Dickinson, Emily's father in the series Dickinson, is giving the eulogy at a funeral for a soldier known to the Dickinson's and the community. Edward used the phrase "heal from the wound of war." I realzed that since I have never known no war for 7 decades, someone keeps the wars going, so there will never be wounds healed from wars. Whom does keeping this wound open feed?
